Meanwhile
to kill time before the builders turn up, I’ve been refreshing a bit of old
wooden trellis with a lick of lime green paint and hatching the next phase of
the ‘Special Landscaping Operation’ for the annexing of the back corner region
which I plan to convert into a shady oasis complete with raised pond.

Perfect support for the climbing hydrangea |
Firstly,
how to get rid of the smelly green compost bin that’s skulking behind the RNLI
shed? With its high domed head, it’s
rather like a Vogon; officious looking and getting ready to read you some
nonsensical poetry. Except that it has a
rather horrible hairy scary spider inside it.
Don’t do spiders so better leave that one for the other half.

Compost bin or Vogon in disguise? |
With
the Vogon banished into hyperspace (I mean sold on NextDoor), the corner is now
clear and ready for the troops to move in.

Revamping this corner into a shady oasis with pond |
Now
earlier I mentioned that my cunning plan for this corner of the world included
a raised pond and that empty concrete plinth is the perfect place for my watery
feature which will be constructed from decking planks rather like a raised
planter and filled with a flexible pond liner. More about that in the next post.
