While Chris Rea sang about the road to hell, we were sat in
it leaving Los Angeles heading out on the I-5 South highway to San Diego. There’s a grey cloud over San Diego and
that’s not because they knew we were coming, just an overcast start to the day.

| Leaving Los Angeles and that's the traffic before 9 am! |
There’s something fishy going on as our first introduction
to San Diego is a day at Sea World, home to that favourite family friend
Shamu. Yes, after all these years Shamu
is still alive and swimming with his fishy Orca mates here in San D and as we’re
in California, he hasn’t a wrinkle!

| San Diego Sea World |
I love Sea World with all its fishy characters, scary sharks
and sleepy turtles.
 |
| Under the killer whale tank |
 |
| Tropical fish reef |
 |
| Enjoying the sunshine |
 |
| Feeding the bat rays |
 |
| In the glass shark tunnel |
 |
| Rubber dinghy rapids - we got soaked! |
 |
| Enjoying the high life on the Sky Ride |
And here's what everyone's been waiting for - the Shamu show! Aren't they just adorable (although you wouldn't think so if you were a sea-lion ...)
 |
| Yes Shamu is still here |
 |
| That is one big fish that makes a very big splash |
 |
| Hey - how about a fishy snack? |
 |
| I didn't see my star on the walk of fame |
Staying at La Quinta Inn just 3 miles away from Sea World in
what is known as the Old Town.

It’s a
far cry from the luxury and glamour of Sunset Boulevard being largely an
overpriced, glorified roadside hotel/motel but they do have high speed internet
access so I suppose I should be grateful for small mercies.
