SANTA BARBARA

Heading south on Highway 101 and already a noticeable difference in the weather.  At last we’ve caught up with the Californian heatwave as today is a scorcher.  Good job all rental cars are equipped with air conditioning, I felt like oven ready turkey by 11 am!

We cut down our pit stops to two in order to spend more time in Santa Barbara.  Just a quick 5 mins in Morro Bay and another at the Lake Cachuma vista point.

Santa Barbara has been described as an enchanting seaside Spanish paradise or the American Riviera and I have to agree, it’s a very picturesque place.

A golden beach stretches from almost our hotel’s front door to Stearns Wharf, the town’s pier.  This connects to State Street, the main shopping area leading to the Old Town.

Gutted that we weren’t able to ride the Land Shark so spent the fare drinking beer instead at the Brat Hut, one of many local watering holes.

Our hotel for the night is The Inn at East Beach situated about 5 mins walk from the beach and around 30-45 mins walk from Stearns Wharf.
